MNSSHP is a separate ticketed event at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World that is offered on select nights from August through October. It is described on the Disney website as “Halloween with a Disney Twist! Get your favorite costume ready and make your plans to live it up—collecting candies, sweets and delightful treats—all while Magic Kingdom park thrills and chills you with special fireworks, eerie entertainment and Disney Characters that go bump in the night.”

The party officially runs from 7 PM to midnight (spooky time!) and prices for 2019 range from $79 to $135 for adults and $74 to $130 for children under 10. You receive a wristband for the party at the entrance gates and guests who have a regular park ticket for the day are asked by cast members to leave the park at 7 PM unless they purchased a party ticket.

I love Halloween, so this event sounded great to me! I happened to be in the Orlando area for work and decided to attend the party on the day I flew in. I knew I would not have time to do a full day in the park, so the nighttime event was a good choice for me to enjoy Magic Kingdom and participate in all the Halloween festivities!

A HUGE deciding factor for me attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is that even though the Disney website says the party officially starts at 7 PM, I found out that you can actually get into Magic Kingdom with your MNSSHP ticket at 4 PM. This was an amazing perk because it allows you an extra 3 hours of park time before the party starts!

After I flew into the Orlando airport, I decided to drive over and grab some lunch at Disney Springs. I think fall may be my new favorite season to visit Orlando. The weather was beautiful and I loved all the fall decorations around Disney Springs.

I got lunch at Morimoto Asia and the sushi was good but it was so crowded inside. I really enjoyed just walking around Disney Springs after and taking in all the autumn ambiance. When it got closer to 3 PM, I grabbed my Halloween costume (I dressed as Rapunzel!) from my car and changed in one of the Disney Springs restrooms. Then it was time to head to the Magic Kingdom!

I parked and took the boat across Seven Seas Lagoon to get to the Magic Kingdom entrance! I love taking the boat because of the gorgeous view across the lake (spot Space Mountain and Cinderella’s Castle!).

Got into the park exactly at 4 o’clock and walked right into beautiful Fall on Main Street!

I was able to get some FastPasses between 4 PM and 7 PM for Pirates of the Caribbean, Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! I highly recommend getting to the party as close to 4 PM as you can, and to book FastPasses so you can enjoy some rides before the party starts! I had just enough time before 7 PM (FastPass is not available during the party) to grab one more FastPass for Haunted Mansion, and then it was time for MNSSHP!

The ambiance at sunset really set the tone for start of the (not so) scary night!

One of the most fun things about MNSSHP is that a few of the rides get special Halloween changes to them! Pirates of the Caribbean had a live pirate as part of the ride, Mad Tea Party had a special light show, and Space Mountain was especially spooky since they turned off ALL the lights and pumped in some awesome rock’n’roll music instead of the usual soundtrack!

Some of the other events exclusive to MNNSHP included Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade, Happy Hallowishes Fireworks, and the Hocus Pocus Villian Spelltacular. These were AMAZING! I watched “Boo-To-You” and the Spelltacular twice because they were SO good!

There were also many opportunities to trick-or-treat around Magic Kingdom during the party, but I bypassed these candy stations because 1) They were super crowded, and 2) I can get candy anywhere outside the parks so I was much more interested in maximizing my time at the party doing rides, watching the Halloween-themed entertainment, and enjoying the spooky ambiance!

I snagged a spot on Main Street for the first “Boo-To-You” parade. Typically the first parade is much more crowded than the second, so if you can stay late enough I would recommend trying the second parade if you like to have your pick of viewing spots!

Spelltacular was phenomenal. If you loved the movie Hocus Pocus, you will be thrilled to see the Sanderson sisters up to new tricks (and treats!) alongside a huge cast of other Disney villains in this show.

Last but not least, Hallowishes! I stood near Casey’s Corner at the end of Main Street and I thought it was a great spot to view the fireworks and castle projections.

I LOVE the orange lights on the castle!

After watching the fireworks, it was getting pretty late so I went to go ride Space Mountain because it only had a 15 minute wait. I was so excited to ride this a few times, but it turned out that riding once was enough for me! It was a blast, but I think I got a bit of whiplash since I could not anticipate what direction the coaster was going to go in the pitch black ride. The rock’n’roll music was great though and I’m happy I did it once!

As the second parade time drew closer, I made my way back to Main Street and decided to take a look inside the stores. Cast members stock some special Halloween merchandise in these stores after 7 PM on party nights since there are items only available for purchase during MNSSHP. I ended up getting a t-shirt to commemorate my solo trip.

As I made my way out of the park, I watched a little of the second parade and said “See Ya Real Soon!” to the Magic Kingdom.
